It is important to note that billing decisions are ultimately at the discretion of the doctor.

Payment is expected at the time of consultation and can be made by cash, EFTPOS, MasterCard/Visa.

Appointments

At Family Doctors Nerang, we operate on an appointment-based system which can be accessed by contacting the practice via phone or online booking. Walk-in appointments are also available. We offer standard appointments for 10 minutes and long appointments for up to 20 minutes. If you anticipate needing a long appointment, please inform our reception staff at the time of booking. Additionally, please advise reception if you have any forms that require completion, as a private fee may be required. It is important to note that each appointment is reserved for one person only. Therefore, if other family members require medical attention, separate bookings must be made, or a double appointment can be arranged.

Our goal is to adhere to appointment schedules; however, the unpredictable nature of medical practices may result in doctors running behind schedule at times. This may occur due to a patient requiring urgent medical attention. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to patients when we fall behind with our appointment schedule.

We kindly request that if you no longer require your appointment, please call and cancel it. This will enable another patient to book the slot, and we would greatly appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Did you know that we offer Medicinal Cannabis consultations?

Medicinal cannabis offers a multitude of potential benefits, making it a promising option in the field of healthcare. First and foremost, it has shown significant effectiveness in alleviating chronic pain, which is often associated with conditions such as arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and fibromyalgia. By acting on the body's endocannabinoid system, cannabis can help manage pain and improve the overall quality of life for patients. Additionally, medical cannabis has demonstrated its potential in reducing nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, providing much-needed relief for cancer patients undergoing treatment.

It has also shown promise in treating certain neurological disorders, such as epilepsy, by reducing the frequency and severity of seizures. Moreover, cannabis may offer benefits for mental health, as it has been associated with alleviating symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Importantly, medical cannabis provides these potential benefits while often having fewer adverse effects compared to conventional pharmaceuticals. Overall, the expanding research and increasing acceptance of medical cannabis suggest a growing appreciation for its therapeutic potential in various medical conditions.

If you are a new patient, please bring a health summary or medical records from your previous GP. Consultations are not bulk billed through Medicare. Consultations start from $145.00 and reviews /repeat script $59.00.

Telehealth

All of our existing patients can take advantage of our telephone consultations for results. The process of booking a telephone consultation is simple and operates in the same manner as making a standard face-to-face appointment. To book a telephone consultation to discuss results, phone the consultation option when making an appointment online, rather than the reason for the appointment. Alternatively, you can call our reception on 07 5676 7626 for bookings. Please note, your GP will do their best to contact you at the scheduled time; however, unexpected delays may occur. Referrals and imaging requests can be faxed to your email or healthcare provider post-appointment.

Workcover

If you sustain an injury at your worksite, or while commuting to or from work, you may be eligible to make a Workcover claim with your employer. It is important to confirm with your employer whether they are covered by Workcover QLD or a Self-Insurer. Please inform our receptionist if your consultation is related to a workplace injury prior to seeing the doctor.

Skin check

Our skilled skin cancer doctor will conduct a complete skin check lasting between 15-20 minutes, depending on your skin type. To ensure a comprehensive screening, the doctor will need to examine all areas that have been exposed to the sun, and you will be requested to undress down to your underwear. For females, please refrain from wearing makeup.

You are welcome to bring a chaperone.
